Shifting Brains

  • In the Classroom - Lesson 17

Lesson:

  • A great time to practice this during the week would be before testing, or any kind of Q & A, or getting ready for a sports competition.

  • We also have to practice doing it on the fly.

  • But we need to learn to recognize those times when it’s in our best interest to shift from Brain 1 to Brain 2. And back and forth.

  • We need to come from our Belly Brain, Energy Center for clear thinking and smooth powerful movement.

  • When it is time for action, you cannot do it well while thinking about it, especially if the thoughts are focused on self-analysis (self-criticism)

  • Choosing is also power-depleting. The analytical mind diverts energy from the rest of the body to the brain.

  • We need to engage in analytical thought to make judgements and to choose. Choice is power. Learn to choose, and then trust.

  • This is an exercise to shift gears from Brain 1 (the analytical mind) to Brain 2 (the relaxed problem-solving Belly Brain).
