In the Classroom

Suggestions for Teachers

  • Start the weekly lessons on a Monday (or the first day of the week)

    • Allow more time for you to describe the lesson and to have a discussion

    • Have it be the first thing dome in the class, so that the rest of their experiences of the class can support the lesson, and so that the lesson can support the rest of the class time

  • Tie these lessons and exercises to Utah Core Curriculum

    • Lesson descriptions note which material you can link to

    • or go here for Standards and Suggestions for 7th & 8th grade Health Teachers

    • Here is a UEN site, with a link to the Utah State Office of Education's PDF

  • Share this website. Direct your students to use this website on their own.

  • Encourage them to use these practices on their own.

  • Encourage Discussion

  • Practice everyday

    • Have a routine and stick with it. Nothing is more disruptive to deep learning than inconsistency. If you choose to adopt this program, do so whole-heartedly –for your sake, your students benefit, and for the integrity and success of this program.

    • If you do not have time to dedicate to this program, let your students explore the program and techniques on their own, and please encourage them.

  • Let them know this is an opportunity for them to empower themselves

    • Many of these exercises direct the students to a deep and relaxed state. This is the perfect state for them to remember who they want to be.
