Breathe & Squeeze
-
With this technique you are activating your diaphragm, to breathe deeply, expanding the bottom of the lungs. You should feel the expansion all the way down into the belly.
-
Often, people are told to “Take a deep breath,” to relax. But a better suggestion is to squeeze out all the air, because then the body naturally breathes deeply and fully on it’s own. Focusing on the in-breath can cause anxiety.
Exercise:
-
Close your eyes and notice your breathing
-
On your next exhalation breathe out as you would if you were blowing on a candle to wiggle it without blowing it out.
-
As you get to the very end of your breath, when they feel they have used up all their air…
-
Squeeze out any reserve air, every last DROP of air. Squeeze it out to now blow out the candle. It may take a couple tries, a couple pushes to squeeze out every drop of air. It may then feel like laughing or coughing, but keep squeezing every last drop until
-
Naturally your diaphragm springs into action. Your body on it’s own sucks in a big breath of fresh air.
-
Do this three or four times.
