Close Your Eyes

  • In the Classroom - Lesson 2

After the Exercise:

Ask the students what it was like. To prompt, you can ask them things like

  • What did that feel like?

  • Did your energy change?

  • Was anyone worried, or wondering if everybody else had their eyes closed?

  • Did any one think it was weird? Was anyone worried about what other people would think? (You can let them know that more and more business professionals, scientists, world leaders and others are taking time to sit quietly and close their eyes because it helped them think more clearly and problem solve. And they know it’s good for their health to take little breaks like that during the day.

  • You can remind them that it is totally okay for them to take a moment to close their eyes to refocus during the day. They may even see you do it sometimes, too.

  • You may wish to revisit this exercise and change it up a little. Have them compare sitting a minute with eyes open and a minute with their eyes closed to see what the difference is, for them.
