Arm Drop

  • In the Classroom - Lesson 5

Exercise:

 

  • Direct your students to lie or sit comfortably.
     

  • Have them close their eyes, and then 
     

  • Feel the weight of one of their arms.
     

  • Slowly lift the arm, only a couple of inches, keeping their eyes closed.
     

  • As they feel the weight of their arm lifted, have them imagine or remember what it feels like when their arm is totally asleep. 
     

  • Tell them to stay with that feeling, that memory, and let themselves go even deeper into relaxation as they feel their arm drop, just like it drops when they are totally sound asleep. 
     

  • Have them drop their arm, relaxing even more deeply as their arm plops in their lap or on the floor (if they're laying down).
     

  • As they are deeply relaxed, have them remind themselves of exactly who (and how) they want to be today. Let them take a moment to experience being their very best. Let them remember feeling confident and ready for the day. Let them remember to be proud of themselves, for doing whatever they are excited about accomplishing today.
